On the 10th anniversary of September 11th
United in Remembrance and Hope
In the wake of the tragic events which transpired on 9/11/01, people from across the nation and globe communicated messages of sympathy, compassion and love to all who were suffering from the loss of life and destruction brought on by terrorist acts. The banner sent with condolences from the State of Maryland, and posted near the World Trade Center site read “United We Stand.” At the University of Maryland 8,000 people stood on the academic mall united across lines of race, religion, and nationality. We came together in a powerful way, affirming our shared suffering and humanity.
The 10th Anniversary of 9/11 is another opportunity for people to come together across our differences to again remember the lives lost and sacrificed, and to affirm our common longing for a more peaceful planet.
The United Campus Ministry Chaplaincy is sponsoring an opportunity for people to cross religious and secular lines, to join hearts and hands, to unite in remembrance in hope.
